Full-Time Handyman Position

About the Role

The Redstone Group is seeking a reliable, experienced full-time handyman to help maintain and improve our growing portfolio of affordable housing properties in Detroit. You’ll work directly with our property management team to complete day-to-day maintenance tasks, tenant repairs, and small-scale renovations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to tenant maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform repairs including plumbing, light electrical, drywall, painting, appliance installation, and more
  • Complete work orders, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance
  • Coordinate with property managers and access units as needed
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and materials in good working order
  • Occasionally assist with unit turnovers or small renovation projects

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in residential maintenance, handyman services, or skilled trades
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Good communication and customer service mindset
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Basic smartphone proficiency for work order tracking (we use Google Forms)

Bonus if you have:

  • Familiarity with Detroit housing stock
  • Experience working in Section 8 or affordable housing
  • EPA Lead-Safe Certification or OSHA 10/30 card
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Arabic)
